Whether we are depressed, anxious, or just feeling stuck, never forget that sunsets are an indication that nothing lasts forever. And sunrises, indicate there are always new beginnings or new chances to do what we didn't yesterday, or have yet to do with life in general. But we should do them. If they mean anything well then, we have to do them.
Stop focusing so far back in time, that we forget the small yet hugely significant things we've accomplished or have overcome more recently. When we're on a road trip, we wouldn't go all the way back home because we turned off at the wrong place, right? It's just an obstacle and those do not mean we have failed. They do not mean that we can't continue on our path. We just need to reroute and carry on as best as we can. So, why do we go all the way back and diminish the hard work, small victories and glimmers of happiness no matter how far in-between, and never appreciate the sunrises when they do come?
On the flip side, don't get suck sitting there for so long appreciating the beautiful sunset, that we are mad when it disappears from our view. It's unreasonable to think a sunset will stand still forever, just for our enjoyment. As life isn't going to always be happy just because we feel it should be - it takes work. And if we haven't done the work today, that's OK. We get tired, even exhausted - so take a pit stop and rest. Don't keep driving while scolding yourself for what we haven't done. Nobody benefits from that, and we won't get very far if we run out of gas or worse yet, crash.
Remember: The path is still there. Our vehicle still works and our destination(s) is still ahead. We have more control than we think, and people around ready to support and love us even in our darkest times. Don't get so distracted by the dark that we pull off the road, get lost, and give up on ourselves. If God blesses us with a new day, then give yourself grace for yet another chance to accomplish the day or goal at hand.
True, the sun will still rise. But it means so much more if we're around to see it's beauty for ourselves 💛
